Television Ready

These days when you go into politics you have to be ready for the camera. You have to be handsome, so must your family, the family of blandness, as I like to call them: your beautiful wife and picture perfect kids.

You must have an ego the size of the sun and a wallet to match.

Politicians have to really love the spot light because while they are on the election trail the whole world revolves around them. Constant parties, constant clapping, cheering and possibly jeering, but it is all about the politician, the star of the show. They are the center of the world, they look great, their family looks great and the camera's are always on them.

Basically, to be a politician you have to be a performer with good looks and a law degree. You pretty much must have planned your whole life to play this role, no inhaling for you, nothing too embarrassing to come careering out of your closet while office hunting.

These days the main reason to get into office is a) to make money b) to move into a lucrative lobbying role after you leave office so you can make more money.

With that in mind imagine how the poor congress person feels after the press go home after the campaign trail ends - devastated. Even if they win office, the public no longer seeks them out, the public have gone home to watch something else on television. The public pretty much stop recognizing them when they go to the mall unless there is some kind of fanfare for them so people will once again recognize them. Poor politicians love the spotlight and now they've fading back into obscurity.

However while you are ignoring your egotistical/self-centered film star, err I meant local representative, the corporations are not. The corporations are prepared to shower your local representative with plenty of attention.

Give your local representative all the attention they crave by demanding stuff from them, cos if you don't the corporations will.

In essence, because we demand pretty politicians because we have to look at them on television, we also require them to be great orators, who have lived perfect lives, but they are shallow because they've never done anything unplanned. They are rich and very likely never known real hardship or had to suffer like ordinary people might. It is unlikely they have even been bankrupt. They always had healthcare nor have they been hungry.

This is another peril of television. We now elect shallow politicians selected by the corporate media. We don't select politicians because they are like us in reality, we select politicians for whether they look good on TV - like they are actors in a movie. And like other celebrities they are always doing more and more absurd things to get out attention, especially the GOP.

Perfectly true!!! So they are no longer necessary - let's get rid of these toxic mongrels.
